Le Poulet et Bicyclette

You will never have dined anywhere quite like this.  The Poulet et Bicyclette is possibly the quirkiest place in France.  It is hidden in a forest up a dirt track with only a couple of signs to guide you there.  When you reach your destination you will be led to a table by a little lake full of ornamental fish – it is a great place to watch the sun set in a truly magical environment.  The food is basic French fayre (a pizza menu and separate dishes of the day) all done in the wood fired oven.   The wine, meats and cheeses are are locally sourced.  Whilst you wait, you might (especially if you have children) like to take a little tour around the Chicken Village where the 2 brothers who own the place keep an assortment of rare chickens in pens in a sort of tiny little chicken zoo!   It is a cheap night out but a very special one too. As this is al fresco dining, it is only open between May-October and they only take cash, but with a carafe of wine only costing 9 euros and the set menu being roughly 16 euros you will not need much.  Tel: + 33 (0)631150960
